Paddle Paddle Paddle

Buster and Gickos are becoming little kayak lovers, they don't share the love affair that I do, but they are liking it more this year....so I have hope.
Out on a long run with the ladies. We have about 10 ladies with kayaks, and it's really fun when we get a large group for a relaxed run.
Yvonne is taking pictures of me in my kayak, this is my first year with my own, so it's memorable.
Me putting my own spin on the sweet picture Shawna has of rock climbing...the only thing that would be better is if I had a sweet pair of chacos to add dimension and character to the photo...hint hint Carl! :)
Have I mentioned that I LOVE kayaking?

My new ride

You might think this ol' thing doesn't have a lick of "coolness" but...it does! Let me explain....

Any grandma car sporting Thule racks are automatically like ten times cooler...and if you add a kayak to that it basically doubles.
Not only do the racks make it cool but it's also a dynaride...or as Buster calls it the Dyno car...it feels like driving a dinosaur.
This is Buster when he saw our new dinosaur car. I'm glad he likes it!
Any sarcastic comments are welcome!

Over coming a Phobia

It's been a goal of mine to over come my (possibly clinically diagnosable) phobia of snakes. This started when I was very young, although I do remember touching a snake my Uncle Garth had caught, so this tells me I wasn't born with the phobia. Jordan (my dear brother who I have recently come to forgive) would throw them at me, sneak up and put them in my face or on my lap, once he even pushed me in a barely lit barn and shut the door with a huge rattle snake in a glass fish tank on the shelf at eye level hissing and rattling at me. Anyway....needless to say I've struggled with this for quite some time. This really put a damper on my style of living, I spend a lot of time in the rivers, hiking, and camping so the anxiety of having an encounter has bothered me. Well to make this long story shorter I was finally able to touch one at the Idaho Falls Zoo on Saturday. It was an amazing feeling to overcome something that has bothered me my whole life. Mind you...I don't' like snakes, and being surprised by them still bothers me, but someday I'll be ready to face them anywhere or/and anytime.
